LIFE : A DOUBLEBILL

Once again the time of the year to PERFORM!

Get your tickets from SISTIC from 1 October!

LIFE is a doublebill produced by FaithWorks directed by the acclaimed theatre director Christina Sergeant and award-winning film director Lionel Chok. Together, they bring to you 2 stories portraying the poignant of...LIFE.

More than just a comedy about how an old blind man ends up celebrating his 70th birthday with robbers, 'Just Late' written by Dora Tan, is about the realities of aging. It's about regret, tenuous family connections and the loss of control in one's life.

In 'Implosion' written by Suzanne Choo, we explore the life of Max who is frustrated with his inability to express what he feels. Through an accidental occurrence, he meets his opposite, Kai, a young man who suffers from Tourette's syndrome. There is the mysterious doctor who has brought them together and whose intentions are unknown. The result is a dramatic encounter both hilarious and touching. What happens when words fail us, when we can't say exactly what we feel, when we can't control our spontaneous impulses?

    Playback Theatre (PBT)
is a form of improvisational theatre practiced in over 40 different countries in the world. PBT was created by Jonathan Fox who had the idea of a spontaneous theatre that reflected back to a gathered audience their view of the world, thus enabling an enriching experience for the actor s and audience, on and off the stage.

PBT is grounded in everyday life and stories, where the spontaneous enactment of personal experience builds connection between people by honoring the dignity, drama and universality of their stories. It is a spontaneous and exhilarating and often moving process that draws on real-life experiences of audience members ad then immediately re-enacts these stories using all the technique of theatre arts.

PBT has been used in many different settings including public theatres, schools, community events, therapy settings and even corporate contexts.
We all have a wonderful time learning this new form of acting - Playback!

Here are some moments to share with you
